South Charlotte real estate begins in the bustling and vibrant uptown with its wide variety of condominiums, fantastic amenities and vastly differing price points.
Venture outside the loop ring road of I-277 which marks the boundaries of uptown and you'll find some of Charlotte's oldest neighborhoods each with its own distinct character and charm.
Three main neighborhoods to the south of uptown Charlotte are Eastover, Myers Park and Dilworth which are arguably the most affluent in the area. Great schools, restaurants, and boutique shopping all with southern flair, and old world hospitality. Up and coming neighborhoods of note close by would include Sedgefield, Plaza Midwood, Madison Park, Southend and Noda which is considered the arts district of Charlotte.
South Park, almost a mini city center in its own right, is located south of Myers Park and Barclay Downs neighborhoods. Mortgage companies and more financial services can be found in amongst some of south Charlotte real estate best and most prestigious shopping, South park Mall, and multi purpose condo developments mainly Piedmont Row and Philips place, both multi dimensional planned communities in there approach to all round living. South Park travelling south boasts wonderful golf courses with country club amenities along with stately homes ranging anywhere from $400k to multi million dollar real estate properties.
Further south still are the old satellite towns of old charlotte, Pineville and Matthews which still retain southern charm and affordability of living. Last but not least is the explosive growth of the Ballantyne area located just further south of Pineville which spills over the border into Union County. Ballantyne has lots of newly designed neighborhoods with many differing price points and amenities like Ballantyne Village to compliment the area. This outline of South Charlotte real estate from Ballantyne to Uptown Charlotte spans approx 12 miles or a 30 -35 minute drive using I-485 to connect to I-77. More sedate routes and drives out of uptown would include the use of Park Rd or Providence Rd to connect to most of the neighborhoods mentioned here.
